Prudence Beidler Carr is the Director of the ABA Center on Children and the Law, where she manages a team of attorneys and core staff who work on projects throughout the country with the goal of advancing access to justice for children, parents, and families. Prudence provides substantive expertise on Center projects related to the history of law, federal legislation, legal representation, and child welfare and immigration. She has a background in government, nonprofit management, and children’s advocacy both domestically and internationally. Before joining the ABA, Prudence lived in Mexico City where she partnered with JUCONI, a Mexican organization that provides intensive therapeutic support to help youth living on the street reintegrate with their families and communities. Previously, Prudence worked in the Department of Homeland Security Office of General Counsel, where she served as the Deputy Managing Counsel and as a member of the office’s Significant Litigation Team, managing class action, appellate and Supreme Court litigation for the agency. Prudence was a law clerk for Judge Paul S. Diamond in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She has a B.A. from Harvard and a J.D. from Northwestern. Prudence lives in Washington DC with her husband and children.
